Curbside Fresh Market!!

In partnership with The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, we’re excited to announce the launch of the Curbside Fresh Market at Mount Pleasant Neighbourhood House!!!!

The Market will run every Wednesday at MPNH from 2-6pm.

Potential item for sale:

Apples, Apricots, Avocados, Bananas, Beans, Beets, Bok Choi, Broccoli, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Cherries, Cucumbers, Gai Lan, Garlic, Grapefruit, Grapes, Kale, Lemons, Lettuce, Limes, Melons, Nectarines, Onions, Oranges, Peaches, Pears, Peppers, Potatoes, Spinach, Squash, Tomatoes, and Turnips.

Curbside Fresh Market is aiming to bridge the gap by bringing low-cost fresh produce to areas of the city with limited food access.

Aart Schuurman Hess, CEO of the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, says: “We are excited to be connecting and collaborating with communities across Vancouver and helping increase access to quality produce where it is needed. The Curbside Fresh Market will be a valuable learning process for us as we work towards our vision of accessible, healthy and sustainable food for all and continue striving towards  improving the overall health of our community.”
The Curbside Fresh Market will sell 24 fresh produce items weekly. These will include locally-sourced and in-season fruits and veggies such as tomatoes, lettuce, peppers, cabbages and carrots as well as occasional market staples based on requests from market goers.
We look forward to the next few months of celebrating local, seasonal produce, continuing to build relationships and genuinely appreciating the impact that local fresh produce can have for our neighbours throughout this great city.

Bees & Honey Workshop!

Did you know that bees and other pollinators are responsible for pollinating about 1/3 of our food? Without these essential creatures, we wouldn’t have things like apples or tomatoes!

Join us and our special guest Hives For Humanity as we learn about the world of bees and how to welcome them into our lives! We will be tasting honey from a Mount Pleasant hive (talk about local!) and rolling a beeswax candle to take home.

As usual, please bring a healthy potluck dish to share.

We are capping this event at 20 people, so make sure you RSVP here!
